Why is a food blogger talking about health and fitness? It's simple! Everyone needs to be healthy!
My philosophy about health and fitness is that it's all about balance. Life without dessert is boring, but dessert every day is unhealthy. I believe there is a balance that can be achieved so you can live a healthy life without deprivation. If you look through my blog archive you'll see a wide variety of recipes; incredibly unhealthy (mostly from my pre-fitness days), and some incredibly healthy. Like I said, it's all about balance (though my new recipes tend to be healthier.

**My fitness story**
One day I realized something had to give, and so I started the Couch to 5k program with some friends. I started running 5ks and realized that I loved running. I began training for a half marathon and completed my first in September 2012. While I was training, I was working out at the gym almost daily in addition to running. I was the healthiest I'd ever been!
Shortly after completing my half marathon, I got pregnant with my daughter. I was exhausted and just couldn't force myself to workout. I gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy. I was thrown into motherhood and my focus was on my newborn, my husband, and running our household--not on myself and my weight. For months, that was my excuse--I was a new mom, I didn't have to worry about my weight. I assumed I would drop weight quickly after giving birth because I had been in such great shape and was breastfeeding. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me.
When my daughter was 8 months old, I was still 37 pound over my goal (pre-pregnancy weight). Something clicked and I decided that I needed to put myself first and get healthy! I reached out to a friend who is a fitness coach and she hooked me up with the life changing 21 Day Fix. It taught me how to eat and what to eat! My results were incredible (7 pounds in just 21 days!) and I was motivated to continue on my fitness journey and become a coach.
Now I am just 3 pounds from my goal weight (as of 12/15/14) and I feel great! I am in great shape and I'm fueling my body properly. I've learned so much in the past few months and I love to share that knowledge with others!
**Update (8/10/15): I'm currently expecting our next child, so I'm not in weight loss mode. I'm doing my best to lead a healthy and active pregnancy. Please stay tuned for that journey! :)
